The “Old Town” Problem: Protecting Lansing Roofs from Falling Limbs

Lansing is beautiful for its mature canopy of trees, especially in neighborhoods near Moores Park and the Westside. But for your roof, these trees are a liability. We frequently see “micro-abrasion” on Lansing roofs—where overhanging oak and maple branches slowly scrub the granules off your asphalt shingles during wind storms.

The Local Fix:

If you live in Lansing’s older districts, we recommend impact-resistant shingles (Class 4) that can withstand falling debris. Furthermore, our inspections in Lansing always include a “Vegetation Clearance Check.” We don’t just look at the roof; we advise you on which branches need trimming to prevent the next wind storm from turning a branch into a projectile.
